The Consumer Data Right (CDR) is an economy-wide reform that gives individuals the right to share data between service providers of their choosing. It began rolling out in the energy sector this month.
You must meet the CDR data holder requirements if you have more than 10,000 electricity residential and small business customers. This means that in the next 12 months, most energy retailers will be impacted.
AGL, Origin and EnergyAustralia are obligated to comply from this month, commencing 15 November 2022.
A year may seem a long time, yet there are many steps for retailers to be ready. Most will benefit from starting now. Because of this, over the coming twelve months, EGC will provide a monthly update via this newsletter. Each month we will provide an update on obligations and an overview of the timeline.
We will also release a PDF newsletter with more details. You can find this month’s one here.
EGC is also offering a CDR Advisory Service to assist energy retailers through this process.
Our experienced team is capturing the requirements as they apply to energy retailers and will support retailers in navigating the process of planning, implementing, and going live as CDR data holders.
